Mission

The primary mission of the Navy’s Forward Deployable Preventive Medicine Units (FDPMU) is to rapidly assess, prevent, and control health threats in theaters of operation by threat characterization and enhancement of organic preventive medicine assets.
Background
Forward Deployable Preventive Medicine Units have been called upon over recent years to support a myriad of deployment missions. These missions have included the traditional front line force health protection support to U.S. and coalition forces directly involved in the Global War on Terrorism still being waged in Iraq and among other Middle Eastern states. The FDPMU has also been called upon to support humanitarian efforts.
