The Industrial Hygiene (IH) module of DOEHRS is a key enabling technology within the presidentially mandated Force Health Protection Plan and is further supported by Public Law 105-85. DOEHRS-IH is a comprehensive, automated information system for assembling, comparing, using, evaluating, and storing environmental health surveillance data, occupational personnel exposure information, workplace environmental monitoring data, personal protective equipment usage data, observation of work practices data, and employee health hazard educational data. DOEHRS-IH provides information needed by Occupational Health (OH) staff and command surgeons for reporting options to commanders regarding the reduction of health threats.
DOEHRS-IH Sustainment Training
As new personnel are hired and identified, additional courses will be scheduled and strategically located to minimize student travel distance. Computer lab availability will be a factor in course location. Industrial Hygiene Program Offices (IHPOs) will fund student travel to course locations.
For DOEHRS-IH quotas, the following is required:
- Approval letter from a Region or IHPO to host the course location. The letter must designate a local training coordinator. The host designated training coordinator needs to be a person with authority to speak for and address all items on the Pre-Implementation Management Checklist.
- DOEHRS-IH Training Application Form for students to attend the host location.
After approval to Host DOEHRS-IH training, the Pre-Implementation Management Checklist will be used by the host designated training coordinator and the Navy Instructor(s) in a series of phone conferences to complete the training site plan.
DOEHRS-IH Refresher Training
Monthly refresher training is offered through announced sessions in Defense Connect Online (DCO) https://www.dco.dod.mil/public/dsp/dco_login.cfm. Every person with a DOEHRS-IH production user account is notified by e-mail prior to the scheduled refresher training sessions. The training is live and interactive between the students and the instructor.
Refresher training is recorded in DCO and can be viewed anytime. You will need to establish a DCO account to use DCO refresher training. Recorded refresher training is listed in the DOEHRS-IH production application in the "Resource" tile under "User Documentation." The DCO Power Point refresher training presentations are hyperlinked. Within each presentation, there is a hyperlink to DCO.
If the refresher training you need is not listed in the DOEHRS-IH system, submit a request for the training you need during the next live DCO refresher monthly training session.
